PRESS RELEASE
Geneva, Lille, Fribourg, October 1, 2020 – Lille-based International Cybersecurity Forum (FIC), Europe’s leading digital security event, and Fribourg-based Swiss Cyber Security Days (SCSD) agree a joint strategy and announce a collaborative partnership to facilitate synergies between the two events, with a view to consolidating their respective positions as the leading platforms on cybersecurity.
As cybersecurity is becoming an increasingly critical priority for countries and a growing concern for society in general, the organizers of FIC and SCSD have joined forces to pursue long-term strategic objectives in the interest of promoting innovation and research, and developing European industrial projects in the domain of digital trust. To this end, the two organizations have unveiled a new collaborative arrangement that will see:
- a deepening of relations between Switzerland and France on cybersecurity matters, via the fora and exhibitions,
- internationalization of the events, by combining speakers, visitors and exhibitors,
- the development of networking opportunities for the delegations.
The agreement was confirmed in Geneva during an initial joint event – an online conference organized by Fédération Romande des Entreprises and attended by a delegation from FIC and SCSD. The subject of the conference was “Dependency and dominance in cyberspace: how to achieve autonomy and develop sovereignty.” Speakers at this round table included the signatories to the agreement: General Marc Watin-Augouard, founder of FIC, and Nils Eric Schmidt, and on behalf of SCSD, director and co-founder Béat Kunz and managing partner Nicolas Mayencourt, CEO of Dreamlab Technologies AG.
Various initiatives are set to be launched in both Switzerland and France, although the exact timetable is yet to be finalized. However, a Swiss pavilion at FIC and a French pavilion at SCSD have already been penciled in for 2022. The momentum created by the agreement will enable the two organizations, both leaders in their own markets, to develop their portfolio of partners. Finally, the new collaborative relationship acknowledges the key role of FIC and SCSD as reference platforms that bring together stakeholders from the public and private sectors and industry and research, and cybersecurity users, integrators, developers and experts.
